Strengths: Workable AHA and BHA products; some state-of-the-art moisturizers and serums; several products are fragrance-free; almost all sunscreens include sufficient UVA protection, and most have impressive levels of antioxidants; good lip gloss, sheer powder blush, and makeup brushes.

Weaknesses: Expensive; drying cleansers; irritating toners; Tri-Phasic White products do not noticeably improve skin discolorations; unimpressive masks and “spa-at-home” products; claims are too far from reality; several categories of Nu Skin’s makeup are resounding disappointments, including foundation, concealer, and eyeshadows; the brow pencil; the Eyelash Treatment product; average lipsticks; claims surrounding ingredients the company does and does not use are not supported by substantiated research.

Tru Face Essence($135.90 for 60.00 capsules) includes mostly silicone, thickeners, plant oils, and antioxidants packaged in tiny capsules meant for single use. The packaging is a good way to keep the antioxidants stable, though it would be better if they were more prominent in this product. For the money, these aren't as elegant as the Ceramide capsules from Elizabeth Arden, which cost half as much for the same amount of product.

180 Degree Night Complex($64.60/1.00 ounce)is a brilliant serum for normal to dry skin because it combines ingredients that restore a healthy look and feel to skin while supporting its structural integrity and supplying it with plenty of antioxidants and cell-communicating ingredients. Well done, though why couldn’t this be fragrance-free like the other 180º products?

Cream Hydrating Masque($18.53 for 3.40 ounces) ends up being more irritating than indulgent for skin because it contains lavender and sage oils along with pinecone extract. None of these help protect dry skin from harsh environmental conditions.

Creamy Cleansing Lotion, for Normal to Dry Skin($14.92/5 ounces) is an outstanding cleanser for its intended skin type. Emollients and plant oils combine with a gentle detergent cleansing agent to remove impurities and makeup without leaving a greasy film. Fans of cleansing lotions, take note!

Nu Colour MoisturShade Liquid Finish SPF 15($21.85), which lacks reliable UVA protection, is a moist-finish, light-coverage foundation that comes in ten noticeably peach, pink, rose, or orange tones. Who thought any of these shades would look convincing on real skin tones? It's a shame these two major faults overwhelm an otherwise well-formulated product, but there you have it.
